The air is filled with anticipation for the 2025 high school football season, and in Pinellas County, that means plenty of excitement for the pass-catchers who are ready to make a big impact. From established stars to breakout talents, the county's receiving corps is loaded with athletes who can change the game on any given down.

Here are the top 5 wide receivers who will be key players to watch this season.

1. Anthony Harris, Largo High School

Largo High School's Anthony Harris holds the top spot on our receiver list and is considered our #1 overall player for Pinellas Highschool Media Group. He is the leading returning receiver in the county by yardage and is a true all-purpose threat, also making his presence felt at running back and on defense.  Harris has been a consistent 1,000-yard all-purpose player for the last three seasons. His junior year saw him haul in 30 receptions for 625 yards and 6 touchdowns, showcasing his versatility and playmaking ability while receiving All State Honors as a reciever and punt returner. Harris has recieved offers from Alabama State University, UNC-Pembroke and Toledo

2. Dmari Roberts, Lakewood High School

Right on Anthony Harris' heels is Dmari Roberts of #1 ranked Lakewood High School. Dmari is committed to the University of South Florida and could easily be the #1 receiver in many other rankings. He is the prototype for a modern receiver, possessing an exceptional combination of size and speed. Roberts' potential is so high that he's not only a contender for our #1 receiver but also a legitimate candidate to crack our top 5 Player of the Year rankings. Last season, he had 31 receptions for 563 yards and 4 touchdowns, numbers that are expected to climb in his final year with the progression of Ayden Wallace at quarterback and the offense as a whole. The 6'3, 170 lbs lengthy reciever is committed but we expect a potential Makhi Johnson type season that could bring in some top schools.

3. Brendan Wright, St. Petersburg Catholic

St. Petersburg Catholic's new quarterback, Chase Burrill, will have a reliable target in Brendan Wright. A 6'0", 180-pound transfer from Clearwater Central Catholic, Wright gives the Barons a receiver with great hands (zero drops last season) and an excellent ability to find soft spots in the defense. As more of a volume receiver who is solid after the catch, we expect Wright to possibly lead the county in receptions this season. Last year, he had 45 receptions for 452 yards, and with a new system and quarterback, he is poised to be a key playmaker.

4. Brody Church, Clearwater Central Catholic

Brody Church of Clearwater Central Catholic is a player who has been on our radar since he first stepped on a high school field as a lengthy tight end/receiver for East Lake. Church brings a combination of size and speed, making him a huge target for new quarterback Khayse Barrett. With the transfer of receiver Brendan Wright, we expect Church to double his production from 2024  however, he will have to share the ball with other talented receivers like Malik Newton and Luke Wilson. Church had 22 receptions for 352 yards last season, and his role in the offense is set to expand significantly. Church has recieved offers from Southeastern University, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Georgetown and University of Rhode Island

5. Jamari Ward, Boca Ciega High School

Rounding out our top 5 is Jamari Ward from Boca Ciega. We feel Ward is one of the best all-around deep threats in the county. With a solid quarterback in Noah Walden, we expect Ward to flourish as the Pirates' #1 receiver. He has good size at 6'1", 170 pounds, and possesses the ability to make plays both inside and outside. Recruiters are taking notice, as he already holds offers from schools like USF, FAU, Howard, and Toledo. His athletic prowess extends beyond the football field, as he is also a state champion in the long jump and was a member of a state-winning 4x100 relay team last school year. Last season, he had 22 receptions for 295 yards, but we anticipate a big increase in those numbers this year.
